Hive is the value tier of the MVP family — Michigan-based, fulfilled through MVP’s distribution headquarters in Marlette, and wholesaled inside the MVP Network alongside Axiom and Streamline. Their stated mission is to remove “the market’s barriers of cost and compromise,” and they only make baskets and accessories, no discs.
Three models, all portable. Hive Lite is 24 zinc-coated chains, 12 inner and 12 outer, all metal, 26 lbs, and it is PDGA Basic approved (cert 20-82, October 2020) at around $100. Double Chains runs the same 24-chain 12+12 layout in heavier 6mm wire around $110–130. Cross Chain is 14 chains in a 12 × 2 arrangement.
You’ll recognise the architecture — it’s MVP’s zero-weak-pockets layout at a lower price.
Be clear on two things before you buy. Only the Lite is actually PDGA approved; the other two are “built to PDGA height and size regulation,” which is a dimensional claim, not a certification. And there’s no warranty coverage for baskets left outdoors — bring it in after you putt.
For a backyard basket at a hundred dollars, that’s a fair deal honestly stated.
