Dynamic Discs names bags by rank, and Trooper is where most people enlist. Eighteen-plus in the main compartment, three or four more up top, three external pockets, a 32 oz drawstring bottle holder, padded straps and back panel, limited lifetime warranty, and it starts around $40.
The number that matters here is the one nobody quotes: 1 lb 12 oz. This is a remarkably light bag. If you’re carrying a kid, a dog, or a bad back around the course, that matters more than a pocket count.
Who’s it for? The player who plays a lot and buys carefully. It’s the standard first-backpack recommendation for a reason, and it’s also the right bag for a strong player who deliberately carries less.
The caveats are structural. The soft bottom has no rigid base — load it and it slumps, and it tips over backwards on a slope. There’s no room for a rain jacket. Discs on the outside edges of the main compartment are fiddly to pull. Note there’s now a Trooper V2 selling alongside the original, so check which one you’re looking at.
