About the Warden

Warden: Dynamic Discs’s overstable putt & approach

The Dynamic Discs Warden is an overstable approach putter. Zero turn with three of fade is a lot of finish for a 3-speed disc — it does not hold a line so much as bend off one.

That makes it a wind and utility disc: forced hyzers, forehand approaches, and touch shots where a skip would be a disaster. Two glide is the other half of that; it comes down where the fade puts it instead of floating on. A 1.5 cm rim depth gives it a deep grip for a putter, which is what lets you throw it hard.

It is not a putting putter for most players and it will not fly straight. Three of fade means every throw ends left, at any power.

Flies like…

How much the Warden turns and fades depends on how hard it is thrown. These three shapes are drawn from the manufacturer’s numbers, not from measured throws.

Section drawing of a disc golf disc with the diameter dimensioned
Diameter21.2cmOutside edge to outside edge. The PDGA allows 21 to 30 cm; nearly every golf disc sits just over 21.
Section drawing of a disc golf disc with the height dimensioned
Height2.0cmFrom the bottom of the rim to the top of the dome, standing flat.
Section drawing of a disc golf disc with the rim depth dimensioned
Rim depth1.5cmFrom the bottom of the rim up to where the inner rim meets the flight plate — the pocket your fingers curl into. At least 1.1 cm.
Section drawing of a disc golf disc with the rim width dimensioned
Rim width1.1cmOuter edge to inner edge of the rim (the PDGA calls it rim thickness). Wider rims generally mean faster discs. Capped at 2.6 cm.
Section drawing of a disc golf disc with the inside rim diameter dimensioned
Inside rim diameter19.1cmAcross the hollow underneath, inner rim wall to inner rim wall. At least 15.8 cm.
Section drawing of a disc golf disc with the rim depth ratio dimensioned
Rim depth ratio7.1%Rim depth as a share of the diameter. The PDGA allows 5 to 12 percent.
