The Viking Discs Barbarian is the Cosmos with an extra point of fade. Same 7 speed, same five glide, same zero turn — two fade instead of one, and that single number is the whole difference between them.
It finishes harder and holds its line under power where the Cosmos starts to turn. Viking describes the flight as straight for a moment, after which the fade comes out strongly, and Infinite reviewer averages of 7 / 4.8 / 0.1 / 2.1 back the rating up, unlike the Cosmos where reviewers find measurable turn. Five glide means the extra stability costs very little distance. Lower arm speeds will see the fade arrive earlier and the straight section shrink.
That makes it the stable half of Viking’s fairway pair: flex shots, hyzers that need to come back, and anything with wind in it. If the Cosmos keeps turning over on you, this is the replacement. What you give up is the straight flight and the anhyzer — with zero turn there is nothing in it to shape one with.
Viking Discs is a Finnish manufacturer naming its lineup for Norse figures and imagery, without published explanations for individual molds. PDGA approved in October 2017. Made in Ground, Storm and Armor, and it is one of only a few Viking molds also offered in Air, a lightweight run with air bubbles in the rim.
How much the Barbarian turns and fades depends on how hard it is thrown. These three shapes are drawn from the manufacturer’s numbers, not from measured throws.
