The Infinite Discs Sphinx is an understable 9-speed control driver rated 9/6/-3/1 — a high-glide, easy-turning driver that gives newer players distance and seasoned players a turnover tool.
Three turn and one fade is a lot of movement away from the fade side. For slower arms, that turn is what makes it go: it holds up, glides a long way and doesn’t fade out early. For faster arms it becomes a specialty disc, which Infinite describes as “a valuable, understable utility disc, excelling in hyzer-flips, long anhyzer throws, and powerful rollers.” Reviewer averages from nearly 190 reviews read 9/6/-2.7/1, confirming the rating with a fraction less turn.
Infinite aims it at newcomers “seeking a crossover between a distance and control driver,” and that is where it earns its place — a first driver that reaches distance without a big arm. It’s also the slower sibling of the Aztec, which Infinite calls “a longer Sphinx” in G-Blend. On paper it sits next to the Innova Sidewinder (9/5/-3/1) with an extra point of glide. The limit is clear: it’s the wrong disc for wind or for anything that needs to finish, and a big arm will turn it into the ground on a flat release.
Infinite places it with its Egyptian molds without further explanation. A sphinx is a mythical creature with a lion’s body and a human head, best known from the Great Sphinx of Giza.
