About the Kon Tiki

Kon Tiki: Infinite’s understable mid-range driver

The Infinite Discs Kon Tiki is a very understable midrange rated 4/5/-3/0 — a low-profile touch and turnover disc that Infinite also sells as an approach disc.

Three turn with no fade means it moves off the fade side and doesn’t come back. Released flat with any real power it turns over and keeps going; on a hyzer it flips up to flat and flies straight. Infinite’s reviewer averages from 30 reviews put the turn at -3.3, more than rated. That makes it forgiving for beginners and slower arms, which Infinite says it suits, and a specialist tool for everyone else: turnover approaches, straight tunnel shots and soft anhyzers.

Infinite describes it as “designed for straight-to-understable touch shots, approaching the basket, or weaving through tight fairways,” with a low profile, a shallow rim and a subtle bead. PDGA’s measurements back that up — a 1.1 cm rim, closer to a putter’s than most midranges’. It won’t handle wind, and it won’t give a finish you can count on.

Infinite admits the name has no clear tie to its ancient-cultures theme: it “was named before our Creative Director was brought on and during a time where the naming process was more random.” Infinite offers two readings — Kon-Tiki, the raft Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl sailed from South America to Polynesia, and the large stone heads some tourists call “Kon-tiki’s.”

Infinite’s run history calls it “a favorite for professional disc golfer Juliana Korver,” and it has had a Korver signature G-Blend run. In March 2021 Infinite told customers it had been “on order since early 2020” and delayed by manufacturing pressure at Innova. PDGA approved in April 2021. Listed in D-Blend, G-Blend and I-Blend, plus metal-flake C-Blend.

How much the Kon Tiki turns and fades depends on how hard it is thrown. These three shapes are drawn from the manufacturer’s numbers, not from measured throws.
