The Mint Discs Phoenix is a very overstable fairway driver built to finish left. Four of fade with three glide is a steep, low, deliberate flight — there is no straight in it.
That makes it a utility disc: headwind drives, spike hyzers, forehand flex shots, and forehand rollers. Thrown hard on a flat or anhyzer release it flexes out and fades back, which is the shot it is for. It is Mint’s most overstable mould and sits where a Firebird would in most bags. The current Phoenix is the 2022 retool; the 2021 original flew differently, so an older disc is not the same disc.
It needs power. Under nine speed with three glide it fades early and short, and newer players will find it goes left almost immediately.
How much the Phoenix turns and fades depends on how hard it is thrown. These three shapes are drawn from the manufacturer’s numbers, not from measured throws.
