About the Osprey

Osprey: Climo’s understable distance driver

The Climo Osprey is an understable speed-10 distance driver, the easy-distance disc in the Climo lineup, made for turnovers, hyzer-flips and players who cannot yet throw a 12-speed with control.

A turn of -3 is a lot: thrown flat with power it turns right immediately and, with only 1 fade, barely comes back. That makes it a turnover disc for strong arms and a hyzer-flip disc thrown on a hyzer angle, where it flips up to flat and rides a long straight line. For slower arms the turn is the feature: it lets a 250-foot thrower get a full S-curve and real distance out of a driver that would otherwise fade early. Six glide adds carry. Headwinds will turn it over badly; tailwinds suit it.

It is the distance driver for controlled, shaped shots and for developing players, sitting beside the overstable Skyway. What it will not do is finish left on demand: with 1 fade you cannot count on a hyzer finish from a flat release.

The name is the osprey, the fish-hunting raptor common on the Florida coast around Ken Climo’s home. It was the fourth Climo mold, PDGA approved April 7, 2025, with a 21.1 cm diameter and a 2.1 cm rim. Climo’s first prototype listing filed it as a fairway driver; it is sold as a distance driver now, and its rim sits at the narrow end of the class. It is beadless.

Ships in Major, Victory and Signature Line, and carries more special editions than any other Climo mold: confetti Major, jawbreaker Victory and a special-blend limited run.

Flies like…

How much the Osprey turns and fades depends on how hard it is thrown. These three shapes are drawn from the manufacturer’s numbers, not from measured throws.
