About the Glide

Glide: Discraft’s understable fairway driver

The Discraft Glide earns its name. Five glide against three of turn at only 6 speed means it stays in the air a long time and drifts right while it does.

That makes it a turnover and distance disc for lower power. It flips to flat with very little effort, holds a long right line, and lands soft rather than skipping. Six speed means almost anyone can get the full flight out of it, which is what makes it a common first fairway driver. The trade is control. Two fade is not enough to bring it back, and any headwind will turn it over and keep it turning.

Flies like…

How much the Glide turns and fades depends on how hard it is thrown. These three shapes are drawn from the manufacturer’s numbers, not from measured throws.

Section drawing of a disc golf disc with the diameter dimensioned
Diameter21.5cmOutside edge to outside edge. The PDGA allows 21 to 30 cm; nearly every golf disc sits just over 21.
Section drawing of a disc golf disc with the height dimensioned
Height2.0cmFrom the bottom of the rim to the top of the dome, standing flat.
Section drawing of a disc golf disc with the rim depth dimensioned
Rim depth1.3cmFrom the bottom of the rim up to where the inner rim meets the flight plate — the pocket your fingers curl into. At least 1.1 cm.
Section drawing of a disc golf disc with the rim width dimensioned
Rim width1.5cmOuter edge to inner edge of the rim (the PDGA calls it rim thickness). Wider rims generally mean faster discs. Capped at 2.6 cm.
Section drawing of a disc golf disc with the inside rim diameter dimensioned
Inside rim diameter18.6cmAcross the hollow underneath, inner rim wall to inner rim wall. At least 15.8 cm.
Section drawing of a disc golf disc with the rim depth ratio dimensioned
Rim depth ratio6.0%Rim depth as a share of the diameter. The PDGA allows 5 to 12 percent.
