About the FD

FD: Discmania’s stable fairway driver

The Discmania FD is a straight fairway driver with unusual glide — six is high for a 7-speed. Six glide against a single point of fade means it carries much further than the speed suggests before it finishes.

That makes it a control driver for gaps and shaped lines rather than a distance disc. Zero turn keeps it from flipping under power, and the one fade means it finishes gently instead of hooking, so it works for straight tunnel shots and long hyzer flips alike. The PDGA row for the original reads FD (Jackal), approved in 2011.

What it will not do is turn. With no turn on the sheet, a big anhyzer is not this disc’s shot, and a strong arm will find it too straight to shape.

Flies like…

How much the FD turns and fades depends on how hard it is thrown. These three shapes are drawn from the manufacturer’s numbers, not from measured throws.
